Meet Management Team

Emma Reynolds – Proprietor.

NVQ level 3 in Early Years, Pre-school Learning Alliance
Diploma,  Early Years Foundation Degree.

As a manager Emma feels it is important to keep herself
and staff members professionally updated through attending
training. Some of the courses she has attended include:
Behaviour Management; Safeguarding Children;
Health & Safety; Language Development; Leading and Managing; Planning and Learning; Fit for Purpose; Risk Assessment; Safer Recruitment; First Aid; Equal Opportunities and Food Hygiene.


Emma qualified in childcare in 1999 and was trying to juggle her career and motherhood whilst her son was a baby, she was disappointed in the quality and options available to her when looking for childcare. Emma decided that the only way to address her concerns as a parent was to open her own nursery. An idea was born and in 2002 when her son was 2 years of age, Emma founded Scallywags Nursery. As the years have passed Scallywags has gained a wonderful reputation and the great demand for spaces is now a reflection on the quality of our service. In 2007 Emma went into partnership with Kerry Lowe, a former employee at Hornchurch, to open a 2nd Scallywags Nursery in Chelmsford, Essex.



Rebecca Burkin– Manager


BA (Hons) Early Childhood Studies
Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education.


Has completed Management Level 3.


Rebecca has attended many training courses including: First Aid; Safeguarding Children; Multi-Agency practice and Food and Hygiene.

Rebecca joined Scallywags in December 2011. Recruited as a pre-school room leader, her expertise and driven nature enables us to provide the best possible development opportunities for the children. Rebecca’s fantastic performance and focused passion for children were recognised immediately. Her professionalism and genuine love of the job lead to her promotion to deputy manager.
